Research Tips and Tutorials


In the SCSU, students very often use library.  Students should know How to find information that they need. The St. Cloud state university library webpage provides a link to help the student with their research and paper. This link will help student with several subjects such as Starting Your Research, Finding Resources, Evaluating Information, Using the Information You Find.

First, the part provides basic information and links about researching via library. ‘Library 101’ is a guide with some tips to help you get your research papers done quickly and painlessly.  ‘How to Find Hot topics’ this guide will give you some suggestions and list resources that will help you select a topic and find background information on that topic at the same time. . ‘Information Cycle’ is you can know where can find the information easier.  Library Resources and Services for Graduate Students ‘,’Primary Sources’,’ Minnesota History Day/Primary Resources’ this link about the source depending on the topics.

Second, this part provides information about scholarly articles such as how to find it via library, and how it is distinguished from popular magazine articles through comparison. Internet Search Tools’ is links to selected search engines, comparisons of search engines, and website evaluation guides.

Last, ‘Evaluating Information and Using the Information You Find’ there are also links to help show how to cite, such as APA, MLA, Chicago, and reference woks basics how to manage citations and creating bibliographies.  Students are also able to see how to make an account with Reworks Basics that helps to manage citations and create bibliographies.
